Hermès’ 2025 Fall-Winter collection exhibited at Paris Fashion Week this month can be described in three simple words – Confidence, Purpose and Leather! The collection introduces bold new shapes in luxurious materials with a mixture of creams, neutrals, and shades of green assembled to form a dynamic collection. Mini shorts, tailored jackets, riding boots and oh-so-many leather-clad models made this collection a standout. The fashion house filled the room with lean lines and strong silhouettes. Over 60 new pieces designed by Creative Director, Nadège Vanhée were paraded as the epitome of powerful feminine expression. The dirt runway paid homage to the brand’s equestrian roots and were further referenced through the show with slick-back hairstyles, riding boots and a plethora of leather looks. Vanhée aimed to create enduring pieces with this collection like the classic black leather trench coat featured repeatedly in the looks. The leather theme was perfectly complemented by accessories adorned with broguing and buckles, yet another nod to the brand’s equestrian origins. Hermès proposes the idea that ‘function is a source of strength’ and emphasises the value of confidence in movement. Italian fashion house Gucci has launched its latest global campaign – their first sustainable project – Gucci Off The Grid. Heralded by the luxury brand’s creative director Alessandro Michele, the environmentally-conscious collection is part of the label’s great focus to shift towards sustainability. The 37-piece collection, which includes luggage, accessories, footwear and ready-to-wear pieces are made from recycled, organic, bio-based materials including ECONYL – a regenerated nylon made from nylon offcuts and pre- and post-consumer waste. Off The Grid is an extension of Gucci’s program Circular Lines – an ongoing initiative to implement circular production in a bid to reduce waste. “Gucci Off The Grid has been conceived to enhance respect for, and responsibility towards, the environment,” the brand stated in a press release. “Gucci believes that sustainability – at all levels – involves fostering this respect – respect for the people we share our planet with as well as for the environment. How A Shirt Should Really Fit. The collar should just graze your neck without constricting it. If your collar turns when you turn your head, it’s too tight. You should be able to comfortably slide two fingers inside your collar when buttoned. The shoulder seam should meet at the corner of your shoulder bone. Assuming you’re not a body builder, sleeves should not be so tight that you can see the details of your arms, but they should also not be so loose as to give you no form whatsoever. Your cuffs should extend to the point where your palm begins – about 2cm longer than your wrist bone. Cuffs should be a bit looser than a watch, but not slide farther up your wrist than a watch. The test? When you bend your arm, your cuff should not move more than 2-3cm up your arm. And finally to the always controversial shirt length… You never want your shirt to become untucked from moving, bending, going about your day-to-day. Fold your hands behind your head to check – it should stay tucked in. If it becomes untucked, the shirt may be too short or the armholes too low. Seek professional help! Gucci is pleased to announce the arrival from outer space of its Fall Winter 2017 advertising campaign, shot by Glen Luchford. The retro-futurist settings inside the images dreamed up by Creative Director Alessandro Michele were inspired by the sci-fi genre of the 1950s and 60s, including the iconic TV program Star Trek. As revealed on Instagram in April in a series of videos intercepted from the furthest reaches of our solar system, this season the collection is transported to a parallel universe where a mixed cast of humanoids, aliens, robots and earthlings unite for the Gucci invasion from a galaxy far, far away. Human characters interact with extra-terrestrial creatures and dinosaurs on Earth and are then beamed up to surreal, psychedelic outer space landscapes and trippy spaceship interiors, creating wild and fantastical compositions.
