To celebrate Year of the Rat, Gucci has launched a new capsule collection that combines luxury with playful patterns and a bit of nostalgia.
Inspired by the 2020 Lunar New Year, the exclusive collaboration between Gucci and Disney, features the world’s most famous character— Mickey Mouse.
Disney’s most-loved cartoon character appears on a 70-piece limited edition Cruise collection which boasts everything from a plaid print shirt and scarves, to bags, phone covers, fur-trimmed loafers and sneakers.
The Gucci x Disney collection relies on iconic prints from the house but adds a bit of playful humour to them like new leather goods which see the label’s famous GG print in the background while small images of Mickey are in the foreground.
One of the key points about the collection is that Gucci’s introduced a brand new material: the Mini GG Supreme canvas with Mickey Mouse print. The new beige and ebony fabric inspired by the fashion house’s ’80s fabrics, gives the collection a cool vintage feel.
While Mickey is clearly the hero of the Lunar New Year special collection, he is also present in Gucci’s autumn/winter collections for men and women, where he features on a number of items, from T-shirts and sweatshirts, to dresses, tops and trousers, and on a bomber jacket and windbreaker.
